1988
A decision is made by the Sisters of Mercy.
At the 1988 general chapter meeting of the Sisters of Mercy, the AIDS epidemic continued to be a leading public crisis, the Sisters were compelled to serve. Sister Mary Wright was selected to complete a needs assessment to determine the needs of those living with AIDS. As she traveled the east coast, it became clear that the primary need was housing.
